LISTEN: The Reel Report with Ria Renouf – Friday September 25th 2015

Today we talk about a reinvigorated box office, some charming movies, and a creepy Flashback Friday recommendation.

Before I summarize The Reel Report, I’d like to apologize for my dumb moment. Poor Jon McComb had asked me if I knew whether or not Everest was ascending at the box office, and somehow I misunderstood that. So have a little giggle when you listen to that – it’s on me.

Lots of great stuff happening at the box office this week. Black Mass is sitting pretty at number one (click here for my review), while American Christian drama War Room is moving on out of the top 5. The Visit has made some excellent gains, and Universal Picture’s Everest is pacing itself on the climb up.

This week The Intern comes out. Starring Anne Hathaway and Robert de Niro, this charming comedy gives us a glimpse into the life of a successful businesswoman who decides to take on an older intern. And by older…I mean by decades.

I’m also excited for Hotel Transylvania 2. Initially I’d brushed the first film off, but received the movie as a gift a while back – turned out I liked it!

Disney’s live action version of The Jungle Book and a clip from the upcoming Angry Birds Movie round out the ‘Trailers That Have People Talking.’

As for home releases: look for Melissa McCarthy in Spy, and my Flashback Friday recommendation? Christine. Yes, the movie about the car; based on a book written by Stephen King.

Keep it reel!

Ria
