She’s been ‘Gone With the Wind’

It’s good to be home.

Hello everyone!

First of all, apologies for having gone dark over the last few months. I don’t want to get too personal, but there have been a lot of changes in my life, which meant certain things I did had to be either prioritized or sacrificed. Unfortunately, the blog was among those things that I had to cut out, namely because it’s a hobby.

My work schedule is absolutely all over the place: I usually get in at around 4 AM, with a start time of about 5 AM, and then do a full eight-hour day (sometimes followed by no naps and screenings in the evening), so finding time to work on the blog has been a bit of a challenge. Being sick all the time doesn’t help either.

HOWEVER – I’m back and ready to bring you more reviews, and I will also embed links to each of the episodes in posts – that way you can follow along in the event you couldn’t listen.

What can you expect moving forward?

The direction will continue to be wide releases, unless there is something of major interest for people that is screening in limited. I’ll also likely screen anything that’s an award front-runner and is accessible (meaning it’s screening in Metro Vancouver). For those of you wondering what I mean when I say ‘wide’ and ‘limited,’ here’s the explanation:

  • Anything in wide is something that plays at most major market theatres; The Fate of the Furious is an example.
  • Anything in limited is something that plays at select screens in major market theatres; the upcoming movie Colossal starring Anne Hathaway is an example.

If you miss the ‘Close Encounters’ podcast, you can click here to be taken to the playlist. New episodes are up every Friday by 3 PM PST.

Otherwise, let’s get moving and shaking, and review some movies, shall we?

As always, I’m grateful for your support, and appreciate the messages while I’ve been away from the blog.

Cheers!
Ria
